2005 Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster in Silver Chrome

I purchased this guitar new in 2005. I was not in a band at the time, but I saw this guitar in the store and decided I needed a proper single coil strat with a maple neck. But I wanted something better than the normal American Standard. This Stratocaster Deluxe has the significant upgrades over the American Standard and is really an incredible guitar. With locking tuners, N3 noiseless pickups, upgraded frets and S1 switching (doubles the number of pickup combinations you can switch), this instrument is professional quality and needs nothing. The N3 pickups produce the authentic Stratocaster single coil sound without noise.

Unfortunately, I barely played this guitar. It has never left my house and has never been played in a band setting. It has always been my in-the-house guitar, and it still spent almost its entire life in its case. The frets show almost no play wear. It has only been plugged into an amp a handful of times.

There are no scratches or scuffs on the body with one exception. The finish in the back on the contour has become detached. The photos show the area and a crack in the paint that developed. I had a luthier look at it and apparently the delaminating paint was an issue on some of these guitars. He was reluctant to try and glue the paint as he was afraid it would not clamp well.  I think he just didn’t want to try and then have it not work out perfect enough. I have left it and so far, I haven’t caused it to flake off.  I believe it could be glued back down, or it could be removed for a relicced look, or just left to flake on its own. Besides the paint defect, there are a few light scratches on the headstock and along the first fret area of the neck, but that is about it. All the electronics function perfectly.

The guitar plays excellent. It has the strat sound—nice cleans, a great blues breakup, and a wide and defined sound when overdriven. The pickups are superb. If it wasn’t for the paint lifting in the back, this guitar would be a solid excellent condition. Because of the paint lifting, I am calling it very good.
